Who are we?
Cynthia Wright Okawara, M.Ed.
Cynthia has been working in higher education for over 35 years which includes academic planning and transfer advising for the last 20 years. She is currently tenured faculty working as an Academic Advisor at Shoreline Community College. Her primary duties include Transfer Advising and Educational Planning. She attended the University of Washington with a double major in English and Education with an Emphasis in Speech Communication. Her Master's Degree from Western Washington University is in Education--Student Personnel Administration for Higher Education. She loves helping students achieve their goals and reach their dreams! She has successfully helped students get into top universities including the University of Washington and all of the schools in Washington state, Cornell, University of California--Berkeley, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Davis, Irvine, San Diego, University of Southern California, University of Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin Oregon, Indiana, Florida, Illinois- Urbana Champaign, North Carolina Chapel Hill, as well as Purdue, Texas Austin, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Notre Dame, University of Southern California, and many more!
Emily Cohen, M.Ed.
Emily is a graduate of Kentridge High School and was a valedictorian. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame Summa cum laude and was selected Phi Beta Kappa. She just completed a teaching fellowship graduate program through the University of Notre Dame with the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE Program), where she taught 4th grade in Washington DC. She successfully navigated the admission's process and applied and was accepted to all 6 universities that she applied to. In her senior year in college, she was a Resident Assistant, studied abroad in Greece, travelled to Ireland, Spain, Italy, and then Mexico City for a pilgrimage trip through Notre Dame. She has dedicated her vacations to serving the communities in Appalachia at both Bethlehem and Nazareth Farms. Emi has been tutoring K-12 students in every subject including executive functioning as well as helping to create an amazing college essay. She is currently teaching 2nd grade in Sunnyvale, California and has recently opened a Photography business: Emily Cohen Photography
